I spoke to Le Petit Journal ...

Few months ago, I met Gwladys N´Djem Nadi for a portrait. (You can read the entire original article in french here : https://lepetitjournal.com/copenhague/expatriation-sabine-sophrologue-maman-copenhague-380411 )

English version follows :

Who is Sabine?

Originally from Brittany, and an accountant by training, Sabine then moved to Savoie ( french region) for a few years. It was in 2008 that her life took a completely different turn when her partner, and father of her son Gabriel, then aged 10 months, died. A shock for Sabine who found herself alone with her son and tons of unanswered questions. Sabine needed to understand, to have keys and subsequently decided to begin studying psychology. In 2012, a new upheaval in their life would be the starting point for their future expatriation to Denmark: Gabriel, then aged 4 and a half, was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome.

A diagnosis that quickly directed her towards sophrology, a powerful tool for managing anxiety and emotions, sometimes useful for people with an autism spectrum disorder but also for those around them.

To better support my son, his psychomotor therapist at the time advised me to refocus through yoga or sophrology,” confides Sabine. She then decided to embark on training in order to have as many keys in hand as possible.

A useful tool but which will not be enough in the face of the unfortunate experience of school bullying that her son will have to face. The difference arouses mockery, the whole class gangs up against her son and the school can no longer manage. Then aged 9, Gabriel no longer wants to go to school.

Faced with her son's unhappiness and the lack of support from the school, the town hall or the rectorate, Sabine sets out to find concrete solutions.

Nordic countries, calm in the face of autism

After reading and research, Sabine is convinced: the Nordic countries are the solution for the well-being and development of Gabriel and her 2 other children, Laura and Roméo.

Other families have already experienced it and are formal. Less stimulation, heightened kindness towards children, safety and calm, so many good points that made her make this decision 6 years ago.

After 3 weekends of scouting, no more doubts; Sabine and her family take the plunge.

It was then that she saw her son transform in a short time and come to fruition.

"In France, he couldn't walk 200 metres alone. Shortly after we arrived in Denmark, he was asking for independence because he felt safe. The environment in which our children live can change everything!"

At the school level, the change is also positive!

“Gabriel follows a traditional Danish schooling, and during the tests, there was never any question of his autism, everything was always done with great kindness and intelligence on the part of the supervisors.”

Now 16 years old, Gabriel still uses sophrology exercises and knows how to listen to his body.

“When he is tired and his emotions are more intense, he knows how to take the necessary step back, take a break and refocus.”

Passing on your experience

Well-being is linked to choices, to an alignment between our needs and our actions. Sabine was able to experience this and today she wishes to accompany other people in this quest through her sophrology practice.

“Putting a smile on people’s faces is great!”

The benefits of sophrology, scientifically proven

Sophrology is a tool that allows you to deal with different situations: stress management, anxiety, sleep disorders, preparation for childbirth or exams.

Through breathing, muscle relaxation or visualization, sophrology allows the secretion of serotonin, endorphin and dopamine, hormones that contribute to mental and physical health. Benefits now confirmed by neuroscience and that can be observed by the image.

What to expect during a session with Sabine?

A lot of kindness, as you will have understood. Sabine welcomes you in a relaxed atmosphere, a non-judgmental interlude, where you will learn to relax to better express your emotions.

A moment of exchange that is accompanied by personalized exercises, which you can then reproduce if necessary: Sabine's goal is to give you your own keys.

“The idea is to reaccustom the brain to happiness, like a physiotherapist would help with muscle recovery.”
